How much does in-home pet euthanasia cost in Sacramento?

At Beloved Pet Mobile Vet, in-home euthanasia is offered in three bundles: Adored Pet (euthanasia only) at $450, Cherished Pet (euthanasia with communal cremation) at $675, and Beloved Pet (euthanasia with private cremation) at $925. In-office euthanasia at our West Sacramento location is $375, $600, and $850 for the same three bundles. Travel beyond 20 miles from our West Sacramento office may include an additional fee.

We serve families across West Sacramento, Sacramento, East Sacramento, Davis, Woodland, Vacaville, Fairfield, Mather, Folsom, Elk Grove, Roseville, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, and Rancho Cordova. Additional fees apply beyond 20 miles from our West Sacramento office, and we can sometimes travel farther when our schedule allows.

How do I know when it's time to say goodbye to my pet?

Deciding when it is time is one of the hardest parts of loving an aging or ill pet. Dr. Hendrix offers Quality of Life Consultations — a solitary in-home appointment where she helps you evaluate your pet's comfort, mobility, appetite, and overall wellbeing, and talks through your options without any pressure to make an immediate decision. Many families find that having this conversation with an experienced palliative veterinarian brings clarity and peace, whatever they ultimately decide.

What happens during an at-home pet euthanasia visit?

Dr. Hendrix arrives at your home and takes time to meet your pet and your family where you are most comfortable — a favorite chair, a sunny spot in the yard, or your lap. She explains every step before she begins. Your pet is first given a gentle sedative so they relax completely and feel no stress. When you are ready, the final medication is given, and your pet passes peacefully in your arms. Dr. Hendrix moves at your pace throughout, giving you as much time as you need.

What species do you see?

Dr. Hendrix provides palliative care and euthanasia for dogs and cats up to 100 pounds. She also provides euthanasia services for rabbits, goats, sheep, rats, and mice. We are not currently able to see aggressive or reactive animals, or accept new ongoing palliative care clients.

Can you come same-day or next-day?

Appointments are available four days a week, and on those days we can often accommodate same-day or next-day appointments. Late-afternoon and early-evening appointments are sometimes available as well. Please call (916) 348-8397 to check availability for your situation.

Who is Dr. Lynn Hendrix?

Dr. Lynn Hendrix is a UC Davis-trained veterinarian (DVM 2002) and one of the founding leaders of veterinary palliative medicine. She co-founded the World Veterinary Palliative Medicine Organization and served as its 2019 President, helped author the first comprehensive animal hospice guidelines in the United States through the IAAHPC, and wrote Animal Hospice and Palliative Medicine for the House Call Vet — a book used by veterinarians to learn end-of-life care. She founded Beloved Pet Mobile Vet in 2011 and has over 30 years of experience in the veterinary field.
